FAQ
What exactly does Medici invest in?
Medici invests in the master recording rights of selected track(s).
If an offer is accepted, Medici acquires a 50% ownership interest in the master recording of the specific track(s) covered by the agreement.
We do not invest in your publishing or songwriting rights.
Do I keep my publishing rights?
Yes.
All publishing rights, including songwriting and composition rights, remain entirely yours.
Medici does not acquire, administer, or control your publishing.
Do I keep income generated before the agreement?
Yes.
All income generated prior to the effective date of the agreement remains entirely yours.
Medici only participates in revenues generated after the agreement is in place.
What revenue does Medici participate in?
As co-owner of the master recording, Medici participates in the master share of revenues generated by the invested track(s), including:
Streaming income
Download income
Sync income (if applicable)
Master-related neighbouring rights income
Revenue participation begins only after the agreement is signed and the track is transferred into our distribution structure.
What happens to neighbouring rights?
As co-owner of the master, Medici is entitled to the label share of neighbouring rights income related to the invested track(s).
You remain entitled to the performer/artist share, which continues to be paid directly to you by your relevant collecting society (e.g., PPL, SENA, SoundExchange, etc.).
What happens after I accept an offer?
Once the agreement is signed digitally:
You temporarily take the track offline from your current distributor.
The track is transferred into Medici’s exclusive distribution structure.
The track is re-released under the new setup.
Once the transfer is complete, payment is processed, typically within ten days.
Does Medici control my future releases?
No.
The agreement only applies to the specific track(s) covered in the contract.
You remain fully independent and free to release other music as you choose.
Is this a label deal?
No.
Medici is not a traditional record label. We do not sign artists to multi-album agreements, take control over your overall career, or own your future releases.
Instead, we enter into structured master co-ownership agreements for specific track(s) only.
That said, we aim to provide the kind of strategic distribution access, platform relationships, and industry knowledge typically associated with professional label structures — without requiring you to give up long-term control of your career.
You remain independent. We bring capital, structure, and expertise to help scale what is already working.
